Dogs and cats living together - mass hysteria.

It's interesting how horrifying eating cats and dogs is. Aren't pigs smarter than cats? Why can't we eat cats?

Not that I'm about to go after my two shedding, puking long hair cats. But after stepping after the 1,000th nasty hairball on my carpet I am tempted some days.

Carrie, I wondered about this too--why we're so horrified when pigs are definitely smarter than cats (and I have 4 cats). But then I heard the issue is how they're slaughtered--there's no regulation and it can be pretty gruesome.

Plus in some neighborhoods, apparently, you've got to keep an eye on Fluffy or she just might disappear.

I've eaten dog. It was one of those touristey things when you point to something on the menu and well, here you are. It was good, great even, then I recognised one of the chinese signs in the name of the dish and went for my japanese dictionary. Uh oh, dog. You'd think these things were a joke but they do happen. I sat there for a moment contemplating if I needed to go to the bathroom or just face the fact that what we eat is cultural. I was/am after all an anthropologist so by god I was going to finish the dish. And it was good. And I am allergic to dogs so it is not like I saw myself eating the dog I got as a 5 y o child.
In many cultures eating crayfish is just out of the question, and you can pile much more on top of that of course.
