Hunger in Haiti increasing rapidly

"Hunger bashed in the front gate of Haiti's presidential palace. Hunger poured onto the streets, burning tires and taking on soldiers and police. Hunger sent the country's prime minister packing."

This is an issue that Harry Chapin, Bill Ayres and World Hunger Year (http://www.worldhungeryear.org) started talking about over 30 years ago - the problem isn't that there isn't enough food. The problem is that vast numbers of people are economic and politically powerless, and therefore cannot afford to buy the food that is there. It remains a terribly complex problem that threatens to become a crisis, but the solution is to empower people.
